It's an incredible theatre for two reasons. One: In the summer (at least, when I can make it to the ADK) they have independent films like "An Inconvenient Sequel" and "It Comes At Night." I can't think of any theater in the entire region that runs those kinds of movies. And second, it's beyond belief charming - a hidden gem nestled in the farthest reaches of New York State. I have fond memories of seeing War of the Worlds with my brother, and Harry Potter 6 with my future wife. Long live The State.
It's small and old and kinda run down, but it's a gem! Joe, the guy who is usually there when we go is a very friendly young guy who handles the theater easily and is very customer oriented. They have current movies and 3D in the lower theater.
I love this place. It's inexpensive and I don't need to take out a loan to take my kids to the movies and buy them popcorn. No need to buy tickets online in advance and you can always get a good seat. When I was unsure if seeing a movie in 3D would bother my eyes, they offered to give us a refund if the 3D was problematic. Sure some of the seats are creaky, but with customer service like that, I don't mind one bit.
