I just bought a Swift canoe from Rob and Anne, and I'd have to say they run a good shop. Each of their employees were friendly and helpful, taking time to show different boats and explain. I took a boat out on the river for a test, and wound up not buying. That didn't seem to change their good attitude. I wound up coming back the same day, and asked them to fetch a boat that was in storage, 4 miles away, so I could try it. They got the boat quickly, and again helped me and my wife take it for a spin. I wound up getting that one, I think, for a fair price. Thanks, Rob, Anne, and employees.
I have gone on three trips outfitted by Raquette River. Anne is wonderful in helping you choose a trip over the phone and once you arrive she pulls out a map and gives you the inside scoop on the best places to camp, swim, and enjoy your trip. Her team is very helpful in getting your gear ready and putting your canoe on top of your car. I love the Adirondacks and Anne is my go to person for outfitting me for a trip. I highly recommend them.
As a side note, I left my notebook there in their shop after I left. Turned out that as I was getting gas in Blue Mtn they pulled up with the notebook. They were 'keeping an eye out for me'....thanks again.
Great experience renting kayaks and SUP and gear in a fantastically beautiful location. They were very knowledgeable about where to paddle for various ages in our family, and gave tips to make it more enjoyable. They were accomodating in returning the rental after hours as well so I could see the sunrise on the water! Highly recommend for your true Adirondack experience!
Can highly recommend Raquette River Outfitters. Recently visited their Tupper Lake location and had a very positive experience. Anne and Rob and their staff take good care of you - are very helpful and knowledgeable. They handle canoes, kayaks and stand up paddleboards. We put in at their great location and did a nice loop paddle across Simon Pond, Raquette River and Tupper Lake. Beautiful location and nice wildlife. They have a nice place - a wood framed shop wonderfully stocked with anything you could need (maps, water shoes, hats, fishing supplies etc) They also sell small watercraft and accessories on site. You can peek into the back of the shop where Rob repairs or builds Adirondack Guide boats - very cool to see. Would recommend for anyone who'd like to paddle - individuals, small groups or organizations looking to rent or buy. They can start you nearby or shuttle equipment to your planned location. They have great suggestions to help you out. Looking forward to visiting their long Lake location someday too.
